A typical shoot at Sun starts with a Leaf digital back, your choice of medium or large format cameras and a digital technician. We begin by assessing what the workflow of the day will be. Our Leaf digital backs will allow you to capture directly to our dual 2.5 Ghz Macintosh G5s with dual 19 inch monitors, or directly to a CF card for private viewing on the backs 6x7cm LCD.
Sun studios digital techs have all been certified by Leaf. Our digital techs are responsible for:
- Establishing exposure and density production targets through conversations with the client, or the client’s print/Web
production team.
- Checking captured images against these targets.
- Adjusting contrast curves to achieve the look desired by the photographer and client while ensuring images remain
within the established production targets.
- Naming image capture files according to the clients naming convention.
- Troubleshooting the back and capture station if needed.
Post Production. After the shoot, Sun Digital stores captured images in the raw format for 30 days. These
images can be viewed only by using Leaf Capture 10 Software. Selects are processed into RGB TIFF files and stored
on Sun’s WebNative® digital asset management system which creates a thumbnail and a screen resolution image.
These additional resolutions are stored with the original high resolution file and all resolutions can be viewed and
downloaded over the Internet. Sun offers long-term archiving as an optional service.
